While I had one baby with me, and other babies in the cradle, I would work 12 hour shifts grinding floors and cutting off wallpaper. Ha! The whole thing was beginning to take shape, however it wasn't quite finished. It would take lots of time and an enthusiasm to shop. To stay in the realm of budgets, I took to by taking my sons to estate sales in search of diamonds. The routine we had for the week consisted of walking from Thursday to Saturday through estate sales and garage sales to purchase a mix of vintage and modern pieces, and then I would spend weekends painting and sanding the driveway. My passion for restoration of furniture began with a look similar to this. I kept on restoring furniture, even after having completed the renovation of our home. I rented a booth on the local market, and sold pieces there. Eventually I had more pieces that I could decide about and outgrew the area. I hosted open houses at my house where 1 000 visitors would pass through over a weekend, and they could purchase anything on the ground level. My business Growing Days began here. The business I was running was growing however my family was growing too. It was a balance between starting a business and being a mother. Growing Days fit perfectly. It was in 2013 when my lovely daughter Nora was born. She is our fourth child. I loved where my business was going, but I wanted to take a breather. I took a pause from creating vintage furniture and I slowed down my speed to be at home to take care of the kids. In the beginning, this was the ideal thing to do. Within a couple of months, my phone started to start to. A lot of people contacted me seeking advice on home improvement and decorating. The majority of them were people who had been through my property during open house for furniture! Then I slowly took on more clients, at my own speed. Then I was able to have many customers and was operating an enterprise of renovations to homes. Had you told me my business would be the premise for a DIY Network show, I might have laughed. As I look back on this situation and think about it, I laugh.
