Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri Dixit is an acclaimed Indian actor, known for her roles in the film Beta Saajan as well as Hum Aapke Hain Kun..! She first began her career acting during the 80s. The actress became popular for Tezaab, a film starring an established actor Anil Kooor. Next, she appeared with Aamir in Dil. Born into a middle-class family in Mumbai she was able to learn dancing at a young age. She began acting when she was an infant and was struggling for several years because most of her initial film projects were unsuccessful. Eventually she became one the top actresses from Indian films. After her wedding, she took a break in her career before re-entering the film industry. Recently, she played a major role on the film Gulaab Gang. The film focused on the struggles of women across India. Dixit was nominated fifteen times for Filmfare Awards. She won eight of these. Padma Shri is the fourth highest civilian honour in India. Her fame is based on her work in the field of social service as well.
